Project: Broad Street Experience
As a group we walked down Broad St (a main artery in Richmond, VA that bisects the urban campus), gathering material, making rubbings, shooting photographs (and video), conducting interviews, making drawings, and taking notes. From this one research day the following iterations were made in which the students explore possible structures for sequential print design and the potential for visual storytelling through imagery that is intentionally diverse (photographic, drawn, graphic or typographic). The students created mockups and experimental proposals. Emphasis was placed on the diversity and intensity of their translation of this one day of walking and on the number of explorations that they generated.
